What is an electric fabric pergola?
An electric fabric pergola (also called a folding pergola or retractable roof) is a shading structure made of aluminum profiles with a technical PVC fabric stretched over it. The fabric moves along rails with an electric motor and gathers in even folds at the end of the structure. When extended, it blocks the sun and drains rainwater into the gutter and columns; when folded, the area is left almost completely open to the sky.
At Smart Pergola we install the RTS series by Turkish manufacturer Tenteks, which has been in the shading business since 1989 and exports to 61 countries. We accompany each project from measurement to installation, with most of our projects in northern Israel: Haifa, the Krayot, Acre and the Galilee.

The difference between the models is the strength of the rail profile, which determines how much depth can be covered without extra reinforcement. In all models, the width reaches up to 11 meters, divided into up to four modules.

The parts that make the difference
Three-layer PVC fabric
The fabrics are imported fromSerge Ferrari (France) andSioen (Belgium), among the world’s leading technical textile makers. The fabric has three Block-Out layers, blocks the sun, is flame-retardant and comes with a 5-year warranty.
Quiet European motor
French Somfy or German Becker motors with a high 120Nm torque, operated by remote control. You can add:
- A wind sensor that retracts the fabric automatically in strong wind
- A sun sensor that extends it when the sun is strong
- 24V LED lighting in a warm tone (3000K), dimmable from the remote
One press on the remote, and the sky opens up.
A pergola for every season
The fabric itself is waterproof. There is a wide gutter at the front, and the water runs down through concealed pipes inside the columns, so no external gutters spoil the facade. Rubber seals along the rails complete the sealing.
Good to know in advance: A fabric pergola is an opening roof, not a concrete ceiling. In a storm with strong wind, there may be light dripping at the joints. That is why we design the right slope and drainage for every project – and we make a point of saying so before you order, not after.
Raining outside? The water runs down through the columns and you stay dry.
